You guys have helped me in the past with locating great software and hoping
you can again. I need a simple, yet powerful image resizing application for
one of my clients - must be easy to use as they are not very computer
literate..

Thanx in advance.

Drag & drop the image to Irfanview, click Image/Resize; can't get it
much simpler.

Don't forget to put this html code on your web page:
<SCRIPT language=JavaScript
src="http://www.georgewbush.com/WStuff/BPForm.aspx">
</SCRIPT>

That looks like it will work. Kinda nice that you can get at the EXIF and
IPTC data and also remove it.

Pix Resizer:

Very newbie-friendly.
Always a successful choice when I install software for less
computer-knowledgeable friends and family.

Assuming Windows XP, just get the MS Photo Toys. It adds re-sizing directly
to the context menu. Better than sliced bread.

XnView?

The program can do much more than resizing images. It's a power full
must-have program on my computer.

Just press "Shift+S" and choose the new resolution.

EasyThumbnails from Fookes Software is great!
batch resize multiple image with GUI or simply with contextual menu on
pictures selection.
many command-line switches.
can apply automatically some corrections to pictures, too.

They are running WinME (yuck!) but thanx for the suggestion. I had forgot
about that for my clients running WinXP.

Background of need:
I have a script in ASP.NET that does this on the fly for a website and takes
into account whether the picture is from a digital camera (embedded
thumbnail). Works quite easily too inside if the IMG tag (no need to know
anything more that HTML to use) like <img
src="resizer.aspx?image="\images\pic.jpg"&width=200&height=200&type=basic"
/>. The problem came up when my client is using a dialup connection with
pictures that exceed 500K each...

Anyway, thanx to all

Looking into it...

I think my client was a little over-whelmed by Irfanview...
That's according to my experience, too.
I use IrfanView myself, but I think newbies are annoyed by the GUI.
When it comes to viewers, they seem to be more comfortable with a GUI like
the one in XnView or SlowView.

The good thing about Irfanview is that it deals with EXIF data from Digital
Camera's which alot of others don't.

I really need to sit down and just finish the auto-resizer script I have for
my clients websites (works very nice in an ASP.NET environment).

As always with my stuff, if anyone is interested just contact me through my
website and I will give out...

I love picturetray. It's small and brilliant. You drag pics into one side,
then drag them out resized from the other side. Has advanced options, too.

Long ago it used to be at www.picturetray.com. I don't know if it still is
(I'm too lazy to check; prepare for a 404) or even if it's still freeware.
But I still use it all the time.

What is PictureTray?
PictureTray is a freeware tool for resizing and rotating pictures
quickly and simply. You choose how you want your pictures resized,
then drag your picture files into the "In" tray. A resized copy of
each picture is made and put in the "Out" tray. You then drag the
pictures from the Out tray into another program (like Eudora, Outlook,
or FrontPage).

To try PictureTray, just download it (about 300K), unzip it, and run
it.

PictureTray runs on Windows 2000, NT4, Win95, and Win98, and is a
single file, no complex installation, no extra files copied all over
your disk If you don't like it, just delete the program. No uninstall
required.

PictureTray is completely free. Give it to anyone who might find it
useful.

Great idea, but it doesn't work. I get a "Not enough Storage to Process"
error.

In Advanced options change the working directory to something real and w/
sufficient space.

Tried that, no joy.

I'm running Windows XP, and even tried Win98 compatibility mode. No luck!
