Hello,
I bought the TwinhanDTV Hurricane USB DVB-T & Analog TV receiver. When
I plug it in, no "found new hardware" message is displayed and the
setup software does not detect the device.

The PC is compliant with all the requirements and it is strange that
connecting a USB device does not trigger any hardware setup at all. I
suspect the receiver may be malfunctioning. Is there any specific test
I can do before returning it to the shop?

Thank you,

There is a tool here, which will list the enumeration info coming
from the plugged in USB device.

Did the instructions say to install any software before you plug
in the device ?

No, they say to plug in the USB stick first, then launch the setup.
I downloaded the latest drivers and software, but noting changes.
The USB device viewer utility does not detect anything on any USB
controller.
Some ports are not USB2 (the device requires it), but I tried it on
all ports of 4 different recent coputers with no results.

I cannot find any information on the Hurricane. Maybe the web site
filters its contents, based on the country that you are viewing from.
I am in Canada, and perhaps I cannot see it.

I was also not able to download a driver or a manual from:

http://www.twinhandtv.com/twinhandtv/download_driver&software.asp.htm

I haven't even seen a picture of the Hurricane yet. Does it have
an LED, indicating power is present ? Perhaps it is not even
getting power.

I take it you are plugging directly to the computer's USB ports
and you have tried a desktop computer. The utility I suggested, should
work if the device is plugged directly to the computer, and not into
a USB hub.

A desktop computer may be better able to provide power to the device,
if it is drawing too much power. The USB spec has a 500 milliamp limit.

But I'm just guessing here, because I have absolutely no information
to go on.

to go on.

The english site is www.twinhan.com and the device is displayed on the
main page.
The USB stick has 2 LEDs, one green that's always on when connected,
one blue that is randomly on or off, but the instructions don't say
anything about them.
The FAQs on the site don't say anything specific, too.

I tried it also on a desktop, to no avail.
In any case, the device was reviewed on "PC Professionale" here in
Italy a few months ago and the installation was described as easy and
straightforward, which means there is surely something wrong with this
one. I'll return it to the vendor and ask for a replacement.
