I've just added a new PSI card and external hard drive. I've added th
drivers for both, but for some reason the hard drive is not bein
recognized. I see it in device manager under "universal serial bu
controllers" as "usb mass storage device", but i do not see as a driv
in explorer. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

So, you are saying it is a USB 2.0 drive? Check under Disc Management in
Control Panel (under sub head ) computer management or something like that)
and see if it has been recognized and acivated in there, and assigned a
drive letter?
Did you buy a PCI card for USB, is that that you meant (no PSI card) If
so, you didn't need to install ANYTHING for the PCI card, XP has all the
drivers you need, adding more complicates a perfectly good OS and a working
install of this USB device.
..
The KEY with USB 2.0 is the word "enhanced' in System Devices under usb
stuff; if you don't have an 'enhanced' controller you don't have SP1
installed or USB2.0 function..There have been a plethora of HELP requests
about USB 2.0 on this Forum and no one reads any of them I guess. From my
viewpoint only, I don't understand why people don't buy a scroll mouse and
scroll thru postings before they re-ask what has been answered, in detail,
ad infinitum..

Many times 'helping' is just another way to enable laziness, and having
the work done by someone else instead of using their own resources first
(looking thru the posts on this Forum) If you don't see my attempt to
really 'help' with this suggestion and think i am being a jerk, then, i
guess this doesn't apply to you in particular...
