DUH! You moron.

I really don't know why we highly skilled technical people bother helping
you plebs. Really, I don't.

That's a bit heavy Perdita unless you have spotted something I haven't!

Possibly because they don't have Word installed - e.g. if they are running
Lotus ( apologies if Lotus can now open Word - I don't use it)

Otherwise perhaps you are using a much newer version of Word than they are -
in which case Save As an older version. The alternative is to send it as a
Rich Text File .rtf.

Many thanks Peter. Perdita - what a techy bonehead

No trouble. Perdita's normally a great source of wisdom on these ng's but
there seems to be something awry today. Hope it's soon sorted.

It's not fair I have to defend someone I don't know or care about. I call
her perfidity. But she posts and someone else also posts under her name.
It's probably not her, but my lack of interest means I don't know what
headers are in her legit posts. So I can't compare to suspected illegit
posts.

But people I know seem to like her.

I got attacked by NOT-Perdita in 24hshd yesterday.
I don't think Perdita would use such foul language.
(sorry about help I might be giving NOT-Perdita)

Just a comment on the OP problem... they said "attachments"
and "word works" If the OP is still reading, WORD is one
program and WORKS is a different program.

There are converters and plug-in that will allow
translation. But if you use the "save as" option and save a
copy as an .rtf file, just about any word processor will
open the file.

Kelly's right. A daily download of the newsgroups revealed to me that the
real Perdita, aka Amethyst before, is now posting under name "Chris Lanier"
for two weeks. Name change but writing style unmistakable. I post this
with tongue in cheek as impostors will probably use THAT now.

Not everyone is as stupid as you. No doubt you believe the moon is made of
green cheese too.

What the OP is saying is that the version of Word he has came from the Works
package. Many if not all versions of Works include MS Word.

That wasn't really clear, basic WORKS has a word package and
WORKS SUITE has WORD, but not rest of the OFFICE
applications.
Some people think that any MS word processor "must be WORD"
and I was just making a comment to clarify the issue.

WORKS .WPS and WORD .DOC can be opened by either program IF
the converters are installed. Also, the "save as" command
allows the user to save files in many formats.

The .RTF format is universally supported by most word
processors.

Survey Says........NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO!

Perdita has been posting using her own handle, as boldly as ever. Don't you
have other ways to spend your time other than trying to figure out what
Perdita is up to?

Bobby

You haven't "been around the block" as long as I have (: The following
should give an idea why I "pursue" this:
-the "X." The real Perdita NEVER had a period after the X. It's a way to
circumvent Message rules of others not wanting to download her posts; that's
their right-I have one but not to block .
-The language used. We all have our writing styles; we can change our
username, but without great effort, HOW we say WHAT we say is a dead
giveaway. Ever hear the old saying, "A leopard can't change its spots" ?
-I was "subscribed" to alt.os.windows-xp--K-Man's group--when he posted
about her in a very unflattering way. Out of curiosity, I examined the
MS.public groups to see what the real story was. (At the time, Perdita was
posting as Amethyst.).
-Finally, K-Man went after me in EXACTLY the same way on alt.os--posting
using MY username at that time and only parts of my posts in an attempt to
discredit me. It worked; I left. Am I bitter ? Only when I see another
victim of this. I refuse to let this person get away with the same thing
again and again and...
