Recipient name not entering after typing 2-3 characters

Suddenly, now when entering a recipient name in an outlook
email message, as I type a name that exists in the address
book, after the 2nd/3rd character the wrong name enters -
I cannot enter an address book name.

If I manually select the name it appears blank in the To:
field. The only way I can send a message to a
known/address book person is if I respond to a received
email message.

Any thoughts ?

Using Outlook 2003, did virus scan, cleaned temp files,
etc.

Suddenly

Normal behavior. Autocompletion does not use your Contacts data. It uses a
cache created as you actually send messages.
Use the Outlook Address Book or autoresolution to select from your Contacts.

I don't quite understand this. If the autocomplete was
working and then suddenly does not what could have changed
and how should 2002 be setup to continue to "autocomplete"
Thanks.

Any time you change a profile, you start over with a new autocompletion
cache which must be repopulated.
