Recently Used File List in Access is not available

We have a PC where the user would like to use the Recently Used File List to
access the few databases he frequents. The option is "greyed" out under the
Tools, Options menu so it is not possible to check/uncheck this feature.
How can we get this back? Thank you. JB
 
This happens under recent versions of Office, if you use TweakUI and turn
off one of the Explorer options - something like "Maintain Document
History".

Please post back if you are not using TweakUI.
