Using WinXP Home when attepting to open recent docs, it opens with a
search window instead of opening the window.

Recent is called "My Recent Documents" under C:\documents and
settings\user and that is where the history resides. "Recent" is
listed under administrator.winxp and default user, but these are empty.

On right clicking My Recent Documents, or it's desktop shortcut, the
first entry is "search." If I click on "open" a few lines down, it
does in fact open.

Windows is set on classic folders and single click to open. Question
is how can I get this darned file to open with a single click rather
than the two step operation of right click and choosing "open"?

Just found this which I'm sure is related: If in Windows Explorer and
click on a folder in the right-hand window, it opens the search window.
If click on a file on that side, it opens the file. If click on a
folder in the left hand window, it opens the sub folders and shows them
in the right-hand window. I'm certain that in the not-to-distant past
clicking on a folder on the right side, opened that folder for viewing
the contents, and did not open search.
