I am working on access speed issues since March 12, 2009. I got two
PCs that use a 7Meg DSL service via a broadband router. None receive
a reasonable upload access speeds (21 Kbp/s or less) thus rendering
most web pages to time out and several emails to not be sent. I got
DSL service to be checked and the phone line verified. All is
correct. I have checked and may sure both PCs are free of malwares /
viruses.

Now my question is: Has there been a recent update to XP that would
change the TCP/IP Ethernet networking so as to restrict access speeds?

Hi
Did you checked the TCP/IP parameters (MTU, RCwin) to make sure that they
are for optimal performance with your type of Internet connection?http://www.ezlan.net/Internet_Speed.html
Jack (MS, MVP-Networking)

I'm trying to find out why "something" changed on March 12.
Everything before worked find but since March 12, I have "pre-analog
-- less than 50K access speeds on a 7 Meg DSL service.

The "tweak" tests from DSLREPORTs report every thing is correctly set.

I'm looking through the Microsoft forum at DSLR, and I don't see any flood of
threads. Still, you might gain from posting there. The others there might
benefit too, particularly if their Tweak Tool needs to be scrutinised.

Sorry about this post! My ISP was telling me that my service problem
was my fault. I have checked everything and was asking for any
possible update to be the cause.

Then, on March 25, all of a sudden, my access speeds came back. And
no one @ my ISP is willing to admit it was their problem!!!

LOL. You know that the top priority of the first level support at any ISP is to
simply convince the customer that the problem originates with their computer, or
the web sites in question, or anything BUT their service.
