recent winxp security update

Now, when I enable firewall protection on my internet
connection (dsl), I can't run any programs, nor cntrl-alt-
del, nor restart. When I disable it (the only thing I
can do) all the programs i tried to open...open up.
Whats going on?
 
What kind of Firewall protection are you using? Conflict with WinXP
maybe.
