PP 2007 (VISTA) just launched with no recent documents.

What would erase the recent documents?

Hi KC

I take it you didn't change the option to '0' in office button -> powerpoint
options -> advanced -> display -> show this number of recent documents? The
only way (other than that) I know of clearing this list is to change the
registry (see here: http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00863.htm)

19 "Recently Used" files is the current count in options.

I remember MS Windows Defender sanned the registry yesterday. Maybe that
wiped out something...

I'd be surprised if the recently used files are stored in the registry. Is
that the case?

They're not stored there, but rather pointers and an MRU order list
are kept there. If the MRU is altered and/or the pointers removed,
then the recently accessed list is 'lost'. This just breaks the
'connection' to the files, it does not remove them from the drive.
They're still on the drive (in all likelihood). You just can't use
the list to access them quickly.

Thanks for that Tom. All I know about the registry is that it exists and I'm
not allowed to touch it ;-)

{snip}

I have only once done something to the registry that required me to
back up to the last known good configuration - and that was years
ago. I'm not saying that everyone should mess with it, but there are
somethings that just call out for a little investigation ;^) (or a
lot)
