Please help, I was receiving emails fine, but now (for no apparent reason) I
cannot receive any at all into Windows Mail. When I go onto my webmail, it is
there, no problems. I can send mail from Windows Mail however. I've tried
checking the accounts settings etc., following directions on a "help" page,
but I cannot see anything wrong (although I am not entirely technical, so I
could be doing something wrong). Can anyone help........please??

Same problem here. I am not so bright, so please tell me how I can get my
emails from webmail. I have a BT account

I'm with orange, but I think you go to:

http://edit.europe.yahoo.com/config/login?.intl=uk&.partner=bt-1&.done=http://bt.yahoo.com/?

You will have to copy that into the bit at the top of the screen where the
website addresses go, and then put in your email address and password, and
then you can access your inbox and receive and send emails.

Hope that might help??

Any error message?
Does Windows Mail appear to go through the motions of contacting
the server when you have it check for mail?

There was an error message, but once I messed with the account settings (I
followed some help directions), there isn't an error anymore. It does seem to
go through the motions (the box comes up telling me it is connecting to the
pop thing, and it says checking for mail), but nothing downloads, and when I
check my webmail, there is post there, so cannot understand why it's not
working!! Hope you can help.

Well, "messing with the account settings" is potentially bad,
so I trust you returned all the settings to what your mail provider
has specified.

Which antivirus program are you running? Over time some
antivirus programs can corrupt an email account.
Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
or Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled. Afterwards, check your mail
again. If it still does not work, delete the account, restart
Windows Mail, then re-create that mail account.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

I only did what the Orange help pages told me to do, honest!

I don't have McAfee or Norton on this pc, so I don't think this is the
problem.
If it still does not work, delete the account, restart
Windows Mail, then re-create that mail account.

I've just tried that, and it still is giving me problems. It is now popping
up a logon box, which asks for my username and password. I enter them, and
click on "ok" and then it just pops up again, and again. If I then click on
"cancel" (the only way I can get rid of it), then I get server error
0x800CCC90 and error number 0x800CCC92.

This is really a pain in the butt!! Do you have any other suggestions?

We've eliminated all the easy possibilities. Just make sure
that whatever antivirus program you are using is not scanning
emails.

The only other suggestion I have is to try a different email
program. Windows Live Mail will import all your Windows Mail
stuff:
