This is a Great Forum, Glad I found it. Doing a Search seeking help and lucked up on it. I am receiving an Error Message when trying to load a new Internet Browser. I looked it up on this site and it says it is a adware or spyware. I already do a complete cleaning for spyware with several software programs. I am not able to connect to the Internet using my Ethernet cable. When I try my computer shuts down.
I just cleaned my computer from the 'Search Miracle Adware that caused the problem.

Should I go to the system config Utility and delete the Error Msg Code: 'cfgmgr51' from the Start-up Menu?

Please advise. Thanks so much!

Please do not post the same problem twice as this is annoying and will not get you an answer any quicker.

I totally understand

I totally understand that it can be annoying and I ask for everyone's forgiveness. It was posted twice in 2 separate categories for I was uncertain which area would better be able to answer my problem. I unfavor multi-posting as well and it is poor mannerism. I apologize. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

Go to:

Start> Run

Type: Msconfig

On the Startup tab uncheck the entry for 'cfgmgr51'

Click OK and exit Msconfig.

Then restart your PC.

The error message is caused by the fact that the file isn't there (it's an 'orphan' startup entry) but Windows doesn't know that and keeps looking for it The process above should clear the file and you should not get the message again.;).

Please follow the 1nteger instructions to clear it up but as you are saying that when ever you try to connect to internet your computer shuts down mean your computer have blaster worm as well. Get the fix from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en. I hope it will help too.

Still Cannot connect to Internet with DSL Ethernet Cable

This is truly an awesome site, Thanks EVERYBODY for the responses. I tried the Config and removing and restarting....The Error message left but still cannot connect to Internet.

I went to microsoft and downloaded the Spyware?adware....It really cleaned up my computer but program stil exist (cannot connect to Internet). I copied the file on another compute and installed on sick computer

I trie to reinstall my drives................It told me that I was missing the 'LAN' card...this would explain why I cannot connect to the Internet.

My CD Rom has stopped recording....I can play anything and it reads the CD but cannot record.

Question....1. Why is making me not connect to the Internet with my DSL Ethernet cable?

2. What is making the CD Rom stop recording?

Thanks

Check Network settings

You should really check network settings on your LAN Ethernet adapter. Check with provider that what should be settings mean you should allow DHCP or you have some fixed IP from your provider. Also make sure in Internet Explorer --> Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections --> Lan Settings --> Check the "Automatically Detech Settings".

Also when your computer shuts down?

Is your LAN Card detected and enabled? Can you see the Green LED on your LAN card?

What error you are getting when recording the CD's.

I am asking that much questions just to guess the accurate reason of the problem. As we are not in front of computer so only way to resolve the issue is just asking questions..

Cannot connect to Internet

Thanks for the rapid reply

I contacted my ISP and they told me it was not their problem. The LED lights are all on and should be getting connection on the sick computer. It has disabled my CD drives for recording. I am in process of downloading the replacement drivers to see if this works.

I received a message stating that it can not recognize the LAN card. I have the software to for the mother board and I have the Ultimate CD Boot disk.

I was also wondering if I reinstall windows ( I have XP Pro now which over 1 year ago I had WIN XP home). the disk is for XP Home. If I reinstall WinXP could this possibly fix the program, such as reinstall the drives.

Thanks

Only if you completely reformat the drive, which means you'll lose all data on the hard disk holding XP. But that's a little extreme.

XP doesn't like a 'dirty install' like you used to be able to do with Win 98, installing it over itself, it can actually cause more problems than you started with.

Are you running AdAware V1.05 at all? Not sure if it would cure your problem but it wouldn't do any harm at all, it's a freebie program for removing adware & spyware.

Still Trying to connect to Internet

Yes, I did try the Ad\ware, Showed some adware and spyware but I had to download from new computer on disk to put on sick computer. I cannot connect to Internet, still keeps shutting down. That might help much to do this, but can't connect. I am terrified to clean my partition and reinstall WinXP. I feel there is a better solution, I believe this but can't seem to find one.

My Plug and Play it says is not functioning now. I cannot get the CD to record.

Thanks for the rapid response.

Ulitimate CD Boot Disk

Does anyone know if this disk works for computer problems. I ordered it but it has no real understandable instructions. How do you use the disk to boot to repair computer problems. Is it designed for hardware only or software and...................

When you delete a partition on the computer to reinstall WinXP, will you be able to boot the computer and will you lost all software programs installed?

Thanks

Well removing partition mean you will loose all the data. So take backup of your data before proceeding. If you don't have access to other backup media (As your CD Writer is not working) then simplest way to install windows in a new folder like default is windows but you may want to use winxp for that.

With windows, solution is just Reinstallation. :thumb:

If I reinstall Windows in a new folder on desktop for example and I empty the partition to reinstall WinXP, wouldn't the new folder with the Old Win XP installed get lost too? When you say lose all data, do you mean the software products too?

My computer was built for me. It's a great computer. I thought reinstalling the program the virus would travel to the new program? I have the CD to the Mother Board. The Mother board is P4S800 ASUS from www.asus.com. If I reinstall the Mother Board would that be better?

Thanks for all you effort in trying to help me with this.
