I have a gmail account that I receive email from. I have setup this account
in Windows Mail. Now when receiving messages, I only seem to get 5-6 emails
each time I refresh the send/receive button. Any ideas on how to change this?
Thank you

Yes, If I go through this process with Outlook/Outlook Express, I can receive
the hundreds of emails up there. So, it doesn't seem to be an issue on the
Gmail side. Just something different with Windows Mail. I have to keep
punching send/receive in order to finally pull down all of the emails.
This morning there were more than 5 emails and I had to push the button
twice. Thanks for your attention!

When you watch the progress screen, does it say things like
"Downloading 3 of 5, downloading 4 of 5, downloading 5 of 5"?
In other words, does the count complete? Is there an error message
when fewer than the total amount of emails on the server is downloaded?

Gary,
It does say "downloading 3 of 5" and so forth. And yes it does complete
without an error. I then hit the send/receive button again to get another
message retrieving the rest of the mail. This morning I had 7 messages and
it took two clcks to get the messages.
Thanks for you help!

That is most peculiar!
The only suggestion I can think of is to uninstall McAfee or Norton
antivirus, if you have either one of them. For some reason
Windows Mail does not get along with them. I don't suppose
you are running any sort of anti-spam software which can also
interfere with email downloading.

Thanks for "scratching your head" on this one! The computer is a new Dell
Inspiron with McAfee loaded. I will disable this and see what hapens.
Normally I use AVG for virus protection, but I figured what the heck, I will
use this until the free time is up.
Thanks again for your help!

Well Gary I did uninstall McAfee and it is still doing the same thing! This
is a new Dell Inspiron E1505 Laptop. It is as it came out of the box (less
McAfee now). I did install AVG, Free edition.
Anyone else having such a problem? I just don't see any settings for the
number of emails allowed to be received.

I've been reading all the posts in this newsgroup for about 4 months
now, and your issue is indeed unique!
The only other suggestion I can think of is that McAfee had already
corrupted your account by the time you uninstalled it. So, create a
new mail account with the same settings as the old one, then delete
the old account.
