Received Files deletion

Hi-I just started using Messenger. In my Received Files folder there is a
notepad with all of the info re: the messages. I'm not able to delete the
files, nor the folder-it says it's in use but I've shut everything down. I
tried deleting files through IE7, *freeing up disk space* in the *help*
section, and a couple of registry cleaning programs I have. Nothing seems to
work. How do I remove the files? Thanks
