I've been using my home phone number to receive faxes manually on my
computer. Also have digital phone/message machine on the same line. I
want to receive faxes automatically, but of course things always get
mixed up with the message machine. The phone company recommended I get
a second number with a distinctive ring on the same line, so I did. I
used the Fax Wizard to reconfigure the Windows XP Fax settings with the
new number and set it to receive automatically after 1 ring. But the
first time someone called my original number, the fax console answered
it and continued to emit the fax tone even after I picked up the phone
handset.
Can anyone tell me how I can receive faxes automatically on my computer
while still using a message machine? I have a copy of WinFax. Shoud I
disable the WindowXP Fax program and install WinFax instead? Thanks so
much for any advice.
