receive an illegal operation when pulling up power point???

I just purchased Microsoft Office XP Professional for Home use program and
when we go into powerpoint we receive an illegal operation (POWERPNT caused a
general protection fault
in module 3DFX16V3.DRV at 0008:00000258.

That file name smells like a video driver.

Things to try:

Check the video board manufacturer's site to see if there are driver updates.

Try setting the display to a different resolution or color depth.

Try setting hardware acceleration back.
