Despite my bet efforts, i can't get excel to recalculate data ranges for
charts. I have pressed F9 and there is still no change.

Any suggestions?

Hi Tom

what do you mean by recalculate data ranges for charts - do you mean if the
values in the charted range change the chart is not updated or if values are
added to the end of the currently charted range these values are not
included or something else entirely different?

Cheers

Julie,
Sorry for my stupidity and lack of clarity.

Data is updated, but chart remains the same.

Hi Tom

no need to apologise ... just wasn't really sure what the problem was ...

if the chart is based on a pivot table then you might need to refresh the
pivot table (red exclaimation mark), however if the chart isn't based on a
pivot table
then i've just had a hunt around google and found the following :
--- from Tom Ogilvy
I would click on the chart area, then right click and select data
sources. See if the range reference has gotten changed to an array of
values somehow. If so, reset it to the proper range. This can happen
if you use F9 on the reference while in Edit mode and hit enter instead
of escape.

also there is a microsoft.public.excel.charting newsgroup which you might
like to pay a visit to if you don't get any success here.

Sorry i couldn't help more.
Cheers
JulieD
