This client has a intranet server which is managed by serveral webmaster.
Each is in charged of a certain portion of the web.
Lately, some webmasters found that they cannot map to the web anymore and as
such cannot update the website.
A check with a previous webmaster who has control the entire web, he claimed
that this is a MsFrontPage Extension problem. This problem is common and it
happened quite often. He said the system administrator used to do a "Repair
FrontPage Server Extension" using the FrontPage CD. So we did the same, but
the problem still remained. He said we could do it within ISM, default
website, right click, All Task, Check Server Extension. We did but it still
did not solve the problem. After which, he adviced us to do a right click,
All Tasks, Recalculate Web. We tried, but then the Recalculate Web just
don't run. He doesn't know what has happened. He said that if recalculate
works, it should solve all the problems.
We are in a fixed. Do not know what to do next. I realised the folders
which the common webmaster can accessed are all converted through frontpage
right click, "converted web folders". Thereafter permission are set on
these folder. (notice the globe in the folders, these are all folders that
are converted to web folders).
Can I do a Repair FrontPage Server Extension using the CDs? From what I was
told it will wipe off all the security settings. I don't know what othe side
effects will occur. Will recalculate web works ? If yes, how can I make it
work ?
