I have a Windows 2000 Server (Master) running, DNS, SQL,
DHCP, Active Directory (Global Catalog) and so on. I have
another server running Exchange 2000 (trusted). Over the
past few months I have had an increasing number of issues
with the "Master" server including missing or corrupt dll
files causing the SQL Service errors, Windows Update
errors and other problems. I have decided to just
reinstall Windows 2000 and the other services. I have
never attempted this before and I wanted to know if there
is any issues that that I should be aware of before I
attempt this. Has anyone ever gone to these extremes
before? Is there a tutorial available for this process?

Assistance would be appreciated.

If you want to keep your domain and with that your exchange server, then
before you rebuild your DC you have to have at leas another DC in this
domain. This DC must be DNS server and global catalog server. This is the
requirement for your domain to function properly during your other DC
rebuild process. After you have this, you can run dcpromo on the dc that you
wish to rebuild to demote it from DC to member server. Maybe use
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;255504 to transfer
your FSMO roles to your other DC prior to demotion. After you have meet this
requirements you can demote your dc and after that rebuild it.
