Paul,

Check the cooling system - make sure all the fans are running, and
all the filters are clean and unobstructed, so there's easy airflow
within the case.

Do an online virus check:

Check for spyware, similar to viruses but detected with different
techniques. Use HijackThis, Spybot S&D, and expert advice at SWI
Forums (all free). Complete instructions are available at:

Do a system health check. If your system doesn't have one, try an
online check, such as <http://www.pcpitstop.com/default.asp>.

Do you have files called minidump.something in your
windows directory?
For me I find files with dates and times corresponding
very well in time to the times my computer has rebooted.
Can these files tell me more info about the rebooting? I
think my hardware should be in order since my PC is brand
new.

I have experienced the same problem with the computer rebooting and having a
minidump file upon logging back in. A number of times this happened when
multiple IE windows were open. I have talked to a number of other people
who have experienced this problem with XP Pro. Anyone out there that can
provide assistance would be greatly appreciated.
