Rebooting by itself

HELP, I have a compaq laptop presario 2700T with Windows XP Home Edition, all of a sudden it has started rebooting by itself at least 3 - 4 times a day. What could be causing this? I have Norton installed, doubt its a virus, but anything is possible..

Any ideas?
 
Well, quick question.....

Do you have a network card installed and is the computer networked?

Had a similar thing happen at work, I swapped everything in the computer,
then the computer.

It then started doing it on the repleacement computer.

So, i swapped the network cable (you may have one going to a cable/dsl
modem) and it hasnt rebooted since.

Usually XP rebooting is caused by some type of hardware incompatibility.
Have you added anything new lately? Are all your hardware drivers up to
date? Is it still under warranty? If so, call Compaq or one of their
warranty centers for possible help.
