Hello,

Is there something that I could do to solve this problem. Every time I put
a cd in my cdrom Windows Reboot. The CDROM is one year old and was really
used just 10 times at the max. What driver or what else in windows could do
that? Your help is greatly appreciated.
I have xp sp2 and all updates done except for this ITE8211 that is 0 kb, so
that I don't have a clue what it is. My mother board is Asus P5LD2.

Thank you

Go to control panel---system---advanced and in start up/recovery settings
remove X from automatically restart. Then when the error occurs you will be
able to trace it.

Thank you, for the tip. Now the %SystemRoot%\Minidump seems to be
c:\windows. However there is no file called minidump or other file that
would have been just created when I put the cd in the cdrom. Is there
another setting somewhere so that I can trace this problem?

Thank you

Have you tried checking with Asus to see if they have a solution? ITE8211 is
an IDE controller found on some Asus motherboards.Open the case and see if
your device is plugged into the red controller. If it is switch to the blue
controller. Apparently the red controller is for raid and is problematic
otherwise. See the info here
