HELP!!!!!!

When I turned on my computer this morning I got the following

"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot
device"

I did reboot and nothing happened. I do not have boot media.

Is there anything else I can try before taking it in for repairs.

thanks

This can Indicate that your Master Boot record of your HDD is screwed up or
the system Overheating!

You receive a “Reboot and Select proper Boot deviceâ€
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889516
A description of the Safe Mode Boot options in Windows XP
Are you able to access Safe Mode?

If you can access it by folowing the info in the link above try to Restore
the system to an earlier date.

Yes, try to run the recovery Console (RC) and run the CHKDSK /R from there
and then reboot.
How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307654

Or Perform a Repair Installation

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315341
Try to test the HDD health by downloading the HDDmanufacturer diagostic
tools and see if the HDD gone bad!
Good luck.
