Running XP Pro (also happens on my 2000 machine) after
downloading updates from MS updates site, the system
asks "do you want to restart now?" I click yes and the
system reboots, but it hangs on the restart and the only
way out is to unplug the pc.
Is this an "update"issue or a setting problem?
Anyone else experiencing lock-ups?

.
3 times I have reinstalled windows xp pro on my system as
a result of going to ms website for getting updates. I
have a legal copy and registered. Every time I started
fresh with no updates my system worked great! Every time I
recieved an update my system would start crashing. Now I
will reformat my hard drive to clean every thing off of it
and reinstall all my programs and I will Never Never
update it again! Some how I figured each time xp would
work better if I updated. The 2 times I did reinstall was
because of errors on one of my ram cards. After installing
new ram and testing it I did the windows update and now IM
crashing again! My opinion is that windows xp is a joke
and Im sorry I spent the $ for it. Windows ME worked the
best for me.
