I downloaded the critical Security updates from the Widows
Update site. When the computer restarted, it failed to
get past the Windows splashscreen. It just continually
reboots. I can't get into safe mode and doing a repair
with the ERD and console don't work. Soes anyone have any
ideas?

hey dan, i have exactly the same problem. mine goes into
an endless reboot cycle when i update. the only way i know
to get out is inserting the windows cd and choosing repair
option. i'm still clueless though on how to get the
update to work without it happening again. let me know if
you find out anything. i'll do the same.

I had the exact same problem. I made a new ERD from a
friend's computer running W2K and then used the W2K
installation CD to run the repair console. I had to do
the fast repair (rather than the manual - this did not
work) in conjunction with the ERD. I was able to get
past the startup, but I still have a ton of problems that
were not there before SP4 (you can see my post above). I
hope this helps!

Did you log on after the first reboot. I don't know if it can be applied to
your situation, but try to chose "Last known good configuration" and see
what happens.. If you can get to windows again, uninstall SP4
