I have a computer that recently started rebooting every two
minutes. It is connected to an win2k(SRV) AD demain. If I
disconnnect the PC from the LAN, boot and log in the PC is
stable. That is, I can then reconnect to the LAN, access
internet, Outlook / Exchange e-mail, and other apps with no
reboot. If I reboot while connected to the LAN and log in
via AD the PC reboots. This will occure if logging in with
two user accounts. Have done diskcheck with not faults.

I thaought this might be the BlasterWorm so I load MS' fix
and did the Simantec's FixBlaster. (FixBalster indicated
the destop was not infected.)

What next??

It sounds very much like the MSBlast worm. Open Task Manager and examine the
processes running - do you see MSBlast.exe? If so you still have the virus.
Did you patch the server after you disinfected it? Because otherwise it will
just get re-infected.

See earlier post "W2K won't boot, no blast worm"

Try a real antivirus progream. NEVER trust a single AV
application to catch all virii. AVG is free for American
citizens to use on their personal PC's (part of the
licensing agreement they made to get the engine rights)
and the AVG offices are in Czechslovakia, perfectly
positioned between ASIA and the USA, giving them time to
discover and write a signature file for wild virii making
their way from Asia to the civilized world where we have
better things to do than waste time writing crap to mess
with good people. The URL for AVG is
http://www.grisoft.com.

Even if you don't have the worm, an unprotected and un-patched (MS03-
026) system can be crashed (RPC) from the Internet. Patch and block at
the firewall....

Dang! Those are the exact symptoms my computer starting having *before* the
blaster worm made its grand appearance.
I have all the Microsoft updates and ran FixBlaster ("W32.Blaster.Worm has
not been found on your computer.")
My computer shuts down after 2 minutes unless I'm running some very heavy
disk/cpu program.
I suspect a hardware problem but I don't know where to begin.

After spending a solid week from sunrise into the wee hours of the morning
I've given up and decided to build a computer and start all over again. Not
such a big loss. It was an ancient (3 year old) 933 MHZ computer anyway.
