I recently purchased a Toshiba P25 notebook (P4HT, 3GHz,
512 MB, 60G, 17" display and a truckload of connectivity)
and a Tascam FW-1884 (Firewire audio/MIDI/control surface
interface). I'm using Cakewalk's SONAR 2.2 as my digital
audio/MIDI sequencer. However the Firewire connection
between to Toshiba and the Tascam keeps getting hammered.
I suspect it's because Windows XP has assigned the
graphics card, Firewire, USB, CardBus and SD card devices
to the same interrupt (IRQ 16). And, although there are
unused interrputs, Device Manager will not allow them to
be reassigned. Any suggestions?

TIA,

You cannot reassign IRQs on machines that are ACPI compatible. IRQs
are handeled automatically by the BIOS and Windows on such computers.
