Rearranging pictures-but they won't stay that way

I rearrange my pictures, but the next time I go in they are all over the
place. Is there a way to keep them in the order I want them in? Thanks

Windows sorts files first by numbers then alphabetically.

If you arrange the photos the way you like them and then
rename them...as follows...they should remain in their
current positions.

Go to...Edit / Select All...

Right click the First selected photo and from the menu...
choose...Rename...

Enter a descriptive title for the group and the first number...
example... Road trip (10001).jpg

Now press Enter...

Windows will rename the remaining files.

Road trip (10001).jpg
Road trip (10002).jpg
Road trip (10003).jpg
Road trip (10004).jpg

Try creating a new folder and copy several photos into
it that you can expertiment with.
