Is it possible to rearrange the Outlook 2003 Navigation pane to have
Shortcut buttons on left, Fold List pane next column to the right, and
finally the Message List pane, i.e. as in Outlook XP?

Thanks.

No you can't. Why would you want this? Lacking space?

Because

1. I don't like having to scroll down to see my entire folder list.

2. I don't like having to move the mouse to the bottom of the navigation
pane to get the buttons I want.

3. I don't like folder list and shortcut buttons stacked on top of each each
other. It's just not as flexible as moving between a separate shorcut bar
and folder list.

It was much more convenient in Outlook XP when the shortcut buttons and
folder list were side by side.

I get your point but the Outlook Bar has been dropped. The main reason for
this was probably that people either used the Folder List OR the Outlook
Bar. The best of both has been joined in the Navigation Pane. For people who
used both it could be indeed a lot of getting used to. But I believe you can
achieve a lot by first switching to the appropriate view like Mail and place
Favorite folders on top of this. Then you can drag and drop messages from
the list to those folder as well.

Roady,

Thanks.

I'm starting to get used to it.

As a side not to this thread, when I got my action pack I upgraded
several stations to Outlook 2003 and I have to say, after using if for
several weeks, that I really DO NOT like the change in the interface.

I've managed to get it as close to the old outlook (I use the exchange
connector) as I can, but I really hate that I can't get rid of the block
on the lower left - I've removed all the buttons, but I really don't
want to see it.

This change makes it harder for managers with several accounts to
manage.

MS, where was your user focus group for this one?

That's what bothers me also.

I suppose the changes are made because something has to look different for a
new version, but it seems self-defeating in some cases.

At least the junk mail filter works much better. I removed my iHateSpam,
which seems to cause Outlook 2003 to hang.
