My speakers quick working. I have speakers plugged into Rear Speaker Out
Jack and Headphones plugged into the Main Line Out Jack (manual says good for
headphones) and a Mic plugged into the Mic Jack. This has been working fine
up until a few days ago but now I can only hear from my headphones and
nothing from my speakers. I checked in the Realtek HD Audioi Manager and
everything seems to be set right and when I run the Speaker Configuration
Test, the rear speakers work fine and I can also hear from the heatpones.
Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Win Vista, onboard Realtek Audio, Labtek stereo speakers with subwoofer.

I have Realtek High Definition Audio. Up until a few months ago I
could never get everything to work right (5:1 setup). Couldn't get
testing to match actual outputs. Updated my driver by drilling down
through Sound/Playback/Speakers/Properties/General/Realtek High
Definition Audio/Properties/Driver/Update Driver.

After update, all is well. Good luck, lol!

Thanks for the reply Rob. Actually I did try updating the drivers (both from
the computer and online but both time I got the reply that my drivers were up
to date and it wouldn't give me any other option. I couldn't even try to
reintall the drivers. It also indicates that the device is working. Any
other ideas. This is getting frustrating, not having any audio.

Several times when I can't get any audio, I discover/remember (after a
lot of messing around with settings) that one of my small speakers
(that I have setting behind my monitor) has a small, easily pushed, on/
off button. It is easy for me to hit that button by accident. If no
sound is expected at the time of the accidental push, it can be
difficult for me to figure it out.

Thanks Rob, The speakers are On. The green light is on and the volume is
set to 3/4 on and as mentioned in my first post, the speakers are working
fine in the Realtek Audio Manger when I run the TEST. This is really a
strange problem, especially since the speakers were working fine ever since
I've had this computer.

Tried to reproduce your problem but I was not able to hear both
headphones and speakers at the same time. However, I seem to remember
using both at once a while back with 2 separate programs.

The sound through the speakers was the sound from an online game. The
sound through the headphones was the sound using Windows Live
Messenger with the opponent from the game. That's my memory, but it
could be faulty.

My sound setting problems came when I no longer wanted to use both
headphones and speakers at the same time. To get both game and
messenger to use the speakers at the same time, I think I had to
change the following settings:

"Sound" window highlight "speakers" then select "properties" button;
"Speakers Properties" window then select "Advanced" tab;
under "Exclusive Mode" there are 3 choices, no checks, one check, or
two checks.
I think that I had to change something there. Try all 3 choices and
see if you see any difference.

I am using Vista Ultimate 32 so your screens may vary.
