Realtime Application Agent - Startup Files

I'm running Sophos Antivirus and have an hourly automatic feed to receive
new virus signatures from Sophos. When a new signature is received, Sophos
completely re-installs itself. One part of Sophos is the Intercheck Monitor.
This is added to the users startup group. The 'Realtime Application Agent -
Startup Files' correctly prompts me that an entry has been added to my
Startup Group, (previous entry removed by Sophos during re-install). The
AntiSpyware program does NOT remember this. So maybe an hour later I get
another warning and another and another, each time Sophos provides new
signature files. For unattened systems this is not acceptable.

I hear you, and other Sophos users have reported similar issues. I suspect
that Microsoft Antispyware will be less "talky" in future versions, but this
particular notification is not one you want to go away for an unexpected
app. So a preferable solution is for Sophos to get themselves listed as a
known app.

This may well be already under way--don't know how that works, in terms of
Micrsoft's in-house testing operation. But, for the average vendor, the
path at the moment is to use the vendor dispute form located here:

http://www.spynet.com/vendors.aspx

This form is nominally for a vendor whose product is detected by Microsoft
Antispyware, but, for the moment, it is also for asking that your product be
detected as "known."
