Realtek AC'97 isn't working. Is it blown?

I went through the Windows troubleshooter on this issue, and it didn't give
me anything useful. I am running on an Asus P4SD-LA (Although for some wierd
reason, Asus doesn't support it, but Hewlett-Packard does) with the onboard
AC'97 malfunctioning. Windows says it's working, and sound appears to play,
and I've tried both headphones and speakers, but nothing is working. I've
already messed with the BIOS setup, but that doesn't solve anything! I've
been suffering lots of motherboard problems ever since I moved to a new case.

If it's a voltage spike in the 4-pin square 12V connector that knocked it
out, I blame Ultra's horrible power supply design. You can plug a 4-pin
square plug intended for motherboards with 24-pin connectors to work with a
20-pin connector in the same plug! (I am using a 500 watt with silver wires,
not the colored kind that would've allowed me to avoid this)

If it's the fact I don't have a headphone header plugged in, I have yet to
try mounting one.

It turns out the headphone header was required to be attatched to something
to allow the other sound jacks to work. Sorry about posting this without
testing the header.
