If you have broadband and RP8, please comment on your ability
to access the following:

http://www.reuters.com/ ; left click in the center of the "Reuters
Television"; and stream some of the material.

Thanks.

Which version, please?

Recent, but not the latest.

Ver. 3.11.0.0, dated 12-14-03.

Now, that's assuming that it was RA that was playing it. Couldn't tell
for sure, as it didn't open up a new window -- it played within the
Reuters 'viewer'. If it invoked a Windows media player, that would have
been Media Player Classic.

I use Real Alternative, and it plays great.

Scroll down a bit :)

Thanks for the link, Vrodok!

I've been testing RA 121rc2 - and can't get it to work on
Reuters. It indicates that it wants another codec.

Yet it uses the BBC video box fine; and RA does a SPECTACULAR
job with the RP10b high-defs and wide-screens.

The site wants to d/l WMP (I have wmp 6.4) when I use IE.

Trying to figure this one out. Thanks!

You're welcome, Bogus :)

Update: Media Player Classic 6.4.7.8 is now released & on that site :-)

Yes......... and, sadly, it doesn't work with RA:-(

I don't understand... it has the option (check/tick-box) to play *.ra files.
Perhaps you've not installed the latest "Real 'Alternative'" files?

Well it now works - after totally deleting 6.4.7.5.

Apparently, '5 leaves some relic behind that interfered with '8!?

Now if I can only figure out why Reuters doesn't work.

Hmmm. Something to keep in mind. Thanx :)
Now if I can only figure out why Reuters doesn't work.

Copy link (to clipboard), then paste into *.8, & finally, if need be,
copy-over the relevant file from some-odd Temp dir? It's worked for me,
sometimes, using the web-browsers.

Looks great with RealAlternative.

Well, you were very close - got it working on my box, but the site requires
BOTH RA, WMP 7 (with wmp9 codecs, I think) or higher, and I.E.

I was trying to access with WMP6 (no go), and gecko (K-mel).

Don't like I.E.-only sites; but this one is quite interesting for streaming.
Guess I now have two sites for I.E..

Time to scramble the WMP-7 spyware numbers.

Thanks.

Well I tried to find the links - but they have them hidden and protected
(can't get at them directly).

I did get this site to work - but it requires I.E. and WMP-7 (with WMP-9
codecs).

NOW, maybe, I can find those cache-links and figure out how to get there
directly with MPC and RA.

Thanks.
