Just installed Realplayer 10 on my win98SE computer. First thing I
noticed after installation is it said I am not on line . I am. I did try
again, etc. It still doesn't think I'm on line.
I have a little .ram file and when I try to play it I get the illegle
operation and then only thing I can do is restart. I try to play video
on cspan and realplayer will open with a small window. Nothing
happens, again can't do anything except restart. I have went to
preferences and set it for RTSP. I have reinstalled 3 times, now I
think I am stretching my luck to keep on letting it goof up like that.
Any help please?

I have Real Player 10 on 98SE, and it works much better than older
versions of real. Uninstall all old versions of real, maybe download a
fresh copy, and when you install, selet advanced options and only
install the stuff you want. good luck

I don't know about your need to restart and the "illegal Operation", but
I use dialup, and I've been trying to connect to the CSpan video streams
since being forced to upgrade to RealPlayer10 by the Real.com folks. I can
only get constant buffering now. RealPlayer8 worked fine, but recently when
you click on a CSpan Video link while using RealPlayer8, you are instructed
that new software is needed. Upon downloading this software, you find you
have RealPlayer10.
By the way, I'd like to ask, can anyone in this group connect to a CSpan
video stream with a dailup connection? If so, how do you do it?
