Thanks. Got it. But - it has a different filename from the one on
Betanews.
That's strange.
The file I've downloaded, thanks to you, is:
RealPlayer10GOLD.exe 10,200,432 bytes.

The one mentioned on Betanews is called RealPlayer10GOLD_bb.exe.

What might the "_bb" refer to?

Don't know what "bb" is but when I clicked on the link I sent you, it
offered to download "RealPlayer10GOLD_bb.exe".

The first mirror I tried was Switzerland. That gave a file without the
bb.
I've just tried a different mirror, Australia, and started downloading a
file with the bb in its name. Seems to be a slightly different size.
Does anyone know the difference between them?

realplayer10gold_bb.exe = version 6.0.12.872

realplayer10gold.exe = version 6.0.12.857 (from March, 2003)

I meant March, 2004.

The files I've got are both 872 with the same date.
RealPlayer10GOLD.exe 10,200,432 bytes
RealPlayer10GOLD_bb.exe 10,216,816 bytes
Any ideas?

ISTR I once tried that - and it didn't work well with the BBC website.
But it may have improved since then.

Last I heard they were using more recent RealPlayer codecs.
Is all this spyware FUD about RealPlayer really true?

Chris, I wish I could answer that for you. Realplayer files are in a
proprietary format, and I don't know why Real Alternative is able to
get away with what they do. I've seen Real Alternative accused of
being spyware in this group too. However, since I reformated my hard
drive a while back and never reinstalled Realplayer, I can't say
what's going on. My surfing needs don't include Realplayer streaming
media. If I see such a site that needs the plugin, I refuse to install
it and move on.
What do you recommend?
Also - if I install one of them via Total Uninstall will it be
uninstalled cleanly enough to try the other?

Can't help you there. My experience with Total Uninstall has been that
it locked up on me once when I tried to use it to uninstall a program
(dont remember which it was), so I tend to use it only as a reference
list like InCtrl5 was.

Hopefully, somebody else can give you better advice.
