Slightly OT (Outlook Express 6) but can't find a dedicated OE newsgroup so
thought someone here might be able to help.
Machine has XP home w/sp2. OE6 with 4 identities.
If I start OE and do a manual send/receive, it will complete tasks without
fault. The options are set to check for new mail every 1 minute. When OE
does its first 'automated' (1 minute) send/receive I can see "Connecting..."
in the bottom bar but that's as far as it gets. I then just get the error
box saying it failed.
Looking at some other posts on here I was wondering whether even though only
one identity is selected at that time, it in fact checks for mail on all 4
at the same time? This behaviour occurs if I switch to another identity so
not confined to one.
I have only checked two of the identities, but they both have the same ISP,
but a different account/mailbox. Is it possible if OE is connecting to all
or at least two accounts at the same time the ISP only allows one connection
at a time and so it times out (even though only OE identity is actually
'active' at that point)?
After this first automated connection with the failure box, I cannot then
manually send/receive at all, errors every time.
Sorry for the long post, but maybe someone can shed some light on this odd
problem?
Thanks
