REALLY slow transfer rates when syncronizing ...

I have 3 computers that I utilize to remote website sync ... two are single
1.5ghz processors or higher ... one is a dual 2.0gig AMD Opteron System.

The two single processor systems transfer and mind numbingly slow speeds ...
taking up to 5-10 minutes to do simple syncing of even just a couple pages.

On the other hand, my dual system responds immediately and quickly processes
the changes within seconds.

It's odd behavior ... and the single processor systems weren't always so slow.

All my systems are on cable modems w/ upload speeds of 256k. One single
system is in my office on a separate modem ... the other is at home, sharing
the connection w/ the dual system that transfers/syncs perfectly.

Any idea what's causing the bottle neck and/or how to improve it?

Thanks!

Kev.

It could be a firewall issue, an anti virus program issue or an internet settings issue,
because FrontPage uses the internet settings from Internet Explorer.

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP cleaner.
Run the functions to clear the FrontPage Temporary files and the Cache(.web) files.
then right click the IE icon on the desktop, click the Programs tab, click "Reset Web
settings"
uncheck "Reset my homepage" in the pop up and then click OK all of the way out.

Then open a command window by clicking Start > Run and entering: CMD
and clicking OK
In the window that opens type: ipconfig /flushdns
and press the enter key.

Note that there is a space between ipconfig and /flushdns

See if it helps.

Thanks Steve! The firewall is router/hardware based and it effects both
machines ... one that blazes and one that freezes ... and my anti-virus is my
brain ... I just don't open suspect files ... never got a virus yet.

Your other solution worked for about 45 seconds as the transfer rate when I
synchronized got as high as 12kbps ... but stopped/slowed abruptly at 45 secs
into the transfer and proceeded with its slow 1-2kbps rate from there.

I can't figure what's going on ... but it's mirrored on my two single
processor systems which are located on two separate cable/router setups. The
second machine on this cable modem/router chain blazes away.

Weird behavior.

Install the free AVG from www.grisoft.com and scan both machines.
Also install the free AdAware from www.lavasoft.com and scan the machines.

AdAware only runs when you tell it to, and for AVG you won't even know it's running.

I don't open strange attachments either, but I run both of those programs.

I ran both, and all that came up was vanilla tracking cookies ... nothing
that would impede transfers ... unless the hijacker is so deep as to avoid
detection ... but nothing unusual comes up in services either.

Hmmm...and it's still slow.
