Trying to imp[ort a REALLLY old Lotus file - was written with a .123
extention - Excel does not seem to like that extention - any help?

If you still have a copy of Lotus you could use File>SaveAs in Lotus and
save as an Excel file.

If it's got a .123 extension, it's *NOT* really old. It's actually so new
that its file format was introduced *after* Microsoft Excel had captured so
much market share that Microsoft saw no benefit to themselves (you don't
really believe they care $0.02 for users, do you?) from supporting the new
..123 file format.

Your only alternatives are opening the .123 file in *recent* versions of
either 123 or Quattro Pro, and saving in Excel .XLS format, or using
DataViz's ConversionPlus package (likely now to cost more than either Lotus
SmartSuite or Corel WordPerfect Office) to convert the .123 file to .XLS
format.
