The real time protection always comes up saying that 0 of
3 are active. and when I try to activate the real time
protection it is as if the activate button doesn't work.

I have tried redownloading / reinstaling MSAS but that
didn't help and I do have MSAS 1.0.164 and windows XP
with all up to date as far as I can tell

Any help with fixing this problem would be much
appreciated

Just add to Tom post.

This is what Steve Dodson [MSFT] suggests:

ªº1^ Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2^ Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" without
the quotes).
3^ Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware"ºª

Eventually if it doesn't work try what says Bill Sanderson:

"If you are missing your System Explorers, under advanced
tools, several users now have found that the fix first
discovered by Donald Johnson, appears to be effective for
this problem:

ºªInstallation of a Service Pack for the Visual Basic 6
runtime: This link is for SP6, but SP5 also appears to be
effectiveªº.

I tryed the repair thing, but what happens is that on the
real time protection summary page I can set each of the 3
agents to active, but then when I go into any of the
agents it still says that it is inactive and clicking on
activate does nothing. If I do that and then go back to
real time summary, the agent will again show up as
inactive.

has anyone got any other suggestions to get the real time
protection working?

Alastair

Thanks heaps, that cmd prompt thing worked wonders, first
time. I just typed it in and the agents started working.

thanks, I fell better now with the real time protection
working

Same problem.... That button refuses to activate. All
checkpoints are active, but when I click on Activate, it
doesn't do anything.

I think that button needs a good dose of coffee.
