I have loaded then unloade then loaded the beta software
to try and fix the fact that Real Time protection keep
returning by itself to an inactive state. Even when the
application splash screen shows active the task bar on
right click indicates inactive. What to do?????

Have you tried this set of steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

OK - time for sterner measures.

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete c:\program files\Microsoft antispyware (or the equivalent on your
machine)
You will lose access to any quarantined items, and all customized settings.

3) reinstall Microsoft Antispyware. When reinstalling, be sure to be logged
in as the administrator user who will use the product on a daily basis, and
disable active real-time protection from any other anti-spyware product--and
perhaps your antivirus as well. You can enable these after the
install--just remove them for the duration of the installation.

I've also had this problem on one of my two computers and
none of the fixes have worked--everytime I open MS
Antispyware, I have to go through the Setup Assistant
wizard, and when it's finished, I see that AutoUpdate
feature is again inactive.
When trying your latest fix, I shut down my antivirus
program (AGV, the same as on my other computer) from the
Task Manager and I deleted the folder you mentioned. Even
so I still had my old quarantine history.
After uninstalling and deleting the folder, maybe
running RegClean or another registry scan program would
help, as the program seems to be remembering things it
shouldn't. What do you thing?

Fixed it!
1. Uninstall Antispyware.
2. Delete the Antispyware folder.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Run TweakNow RegCleaner (30-day trial version). This
deletes the Antispyware registry entries.
5. Reinstall Antispyware. No need to shut down AVG if
that's what you're using.

If you still had scan history after deleting the antispyware folder, it was
because some other code on your machine was "protecting" the installation
folder, and not all files were being deleted.

This should be fixable without touching the registry.

Are you running the pro version of Ad-aware, and using its real-time
protection?
