Real Player

Not sure if this is the right NG but I can't find one (available to me)
specifically for Real Player

I am trying to install Real Player Version 11. The install gets to 51% and
then vanishes from the screen (with, presumably nothing effectively
installed). Has anyone else found this problem and how is remedied please?

I'd go to the makers of the product in question for assistance...

I posted details of my problem to
http://real.lithium.com/real/board?board.id=realplayer as you suggested but,
even after a few posts, no-one has been able to offer a suggestion as to why
I have this problem or, more importantly, a solution.

If anyone can throw some light on this issue I would be grateful. (optimism
isn't a bad thing!)

Having looked at your post on that forum, I'd suggest backing up the
registry (or just the relevant part/s), then deleting the entries you talk
about, and then trying to install RP again. I'd guess that CCleaner is
finding traces of RP in the registry, but no *files* to delete - that sounds
consistent with the symptoms you report. That said, I don't use CCleaner and
haven't used RealPlayer since the bad old days (trust lost, never regained
sort of thing), so I'm just whistling in the dark here...

If the install still fails, it might be worth checking for any alerts in
your Event Viewer for clues (Start > Run > eventvwr.msc). And maybe
re-download the installation file in case it got corrupted first time round.
