Why doesnt the software block or ask before allowing Real
Player to install it's Message Center. This is as much
adware/virus as anything on the net. I am fed up with
having to manually remove it just as we used to have to do
with Gator & Precision time viruses
If I am doing something wrong please advise (In this group
Only. Please!)

I agree. MSAS should have a list of programs that it thinks are OK, but
allow the user to remove them from the safe list, so it can be
removed/blocked on the computer.

Hi Nick-

Are you running a third party software firewall client,
like Black Ice or Symantec's firewall (the heck with XP's
firewall)? If you're running Symantec's most current
firewall (it's what I use at home), you can delegate Real
Player's ability to access it's upgrade site. This way,
you don't have it going out and putting more garbage on
your PC that you don't want!

Hi

Almost all software programs likes to calling "Mum"........

"Here I am", IP 169.254.123.12 ;)

I think this is the main reason that XP,s firewall don´ t
block inbound calls.
