I just bought the 2GB SanDisk Cruzer Mirco with the intent to use the windows
readyboost feature when I plug the device in and I click on the readyboost
section of the autoplay and it goes to the ReadyBoost Tab it says that it
doesnt have the required performance characteristics for use in speeding up
your system.
Is there something wrong with my USB drive because the guy at bestbuy said
it would work with Vista. So, what is wrong and how can I fix it?

Thanks
Alex

Hi Alex -- take a look here: http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=186

ReadyBoost works fine with my Cruzer Micro 2GB drive (it also works with my
1GB Cruzer Micro)...did you remove the U3 software? I did that and then
formatted drive with NTFS....

I just bought the 2 GB PNY Attache USB drive and found out
- that ReadyBoost works with this drive on an Asus K8N-E Deluxe
(nForce3 250Gb)
but
- that ReadyBoost does not work with this drive on an ASRock K8S8X
(SiS755).

So the ReadyBoost capability may be a function of the mainboard
(chipset)!

ReadyBoost can be a tricky thing to get working
on some flash drives, and a lot of flash drives
just aren't fast enough for ReadyBoost.

Try this first;
Go into Device Manager>Disk Drives
Find your flash drive. Double click it.
Policies tab.
Make sure "Optimize for performance" is checked.

Test again.

Sometimes even formatting the drive can do the trick.
Either FAT or FAT32. (FAT is usually the default for flash drives)
FAT may be a bit faster format on small drives. But,
you can use NTFS. For whatever reason, formatting the device
really can help.

Make sure it's not plugged into a USB hub.
Sometimes the USB hubs can cause slower
read/write times.
Or, try plugging it into another slot.

Make sure the USB port is 2.0. That
won't be a concern, unless you are using
an older computer.

Meanwhile the PNY Attache works with ReadyBoost on SiS755 after i
formatted it in NTFS.
