ReadyBoost with ExpressCard SSD

I recently purchased a Lexar Expresscard SSD 8 GB drive. I can set it to
4090 MB of ReadyBoost (the recommended). When I try to bump it to the max on
the slider (a little over 5 GB) and then apply and close the window, it drops
all the way down to 900 MB. It will not let me set it any higher than the
recommended. Shouldn't I be able to use as much as is available on the drive?

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with 2 GB of memory and a Core 2 Duo 7200
processor.

Are you running Vista 32 bit (max 4GB) or Vista 64 Bit?
What is the size of your Virtual memory? I ask since ready boost can not be
any larger.

ReadyBoost is limited to a max of 4GB. This limit was imposed to be
consistent with the max file size on a FAT partition.
 
Thanks, that is it. I have 4 GB of virtual memory.

(Thanks to JW as well...I am on 32 bit Vista).

That begs another question...how is 64 bit? Will I lose a lot of drivers
for multimedia operations etc., if I bump to 64 bit?

You're welcome. Sorry I don't use the 64bit version. Maybe better if you
post a new question or do some searching in these Vista newsgroups and in
Google. There has been much said on it. As with any change, do some
research on specific hardware devices for drive compatibility.
