I installed a 2GB usb drive to use for ReadyBoot & it show up as twice in
Computer. Once as a USB drive, then again as a CD ROM drive. Is this normal?

is it a san disk USB drive with U3 technology? the U3 software that's
preloaded on those flash drives emulates a cd-rom drive

Yes, it is. This is how U3 flash drives appear. The CD-ROM
part it there because under XP the autorun.inf open= line
had been executed automatically on CD-ROM drives and U3 drives
want theire 'U3 launchpad' started when the drive is attached.
Very strange solution I think. Meanwhile you find such nasty
CD-ROM drives on WLAN sticks and printers too for selfinstalling
drivers...

Just got to Windows Disk Management (Start -> Run -> diskmgmt.msc)
and remove the drive letter of this CD-ROM.
Or use mountvol:
mountvol X: /D
would remove drive letter X:

This U3 CD-ROM can be removed completely by a tool provided by
the U3 group:
http://u3.com/uninstall

I've seen a report that this tool can be used to put your own
ISO file as CD-ROM part on a U3 flash drive. This makes these
things a real security hole under W2K and XP. Vista asks at
least...

I haven't tried it, but I don't think that U3 devices can work with
readyboost, esp. if it is password protected.
