Readyboost cache disappears!

Hi all

I've just bought myself a Sandisk Cruzer Titanium 2GB for the sole purpose
of using it as a ReadyBoost device.
Vista detects the device, recognizes it as ReadyBoost compliant and allows
me to allocate a ReadBoost cache on it (so far so good).

Unfortunately, less than one minute after creating the cache file, Vista
decides to delete it. It doesn't matter how many times I recreate the
cache, reinsert the device (in any USB port) or reformat it - the readyboost
file disappears seconds after it has been created.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any advice for a frustrated user?

Thanks for nay help
Dave

Running Vista Ultimate RTM 32-bit with 1GB memory.

Hi Byron

Yes - I've tried that as well. I even used the
DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES environment variable to show hidden devices
and uninstalled all my non-present usb drives, but to no avail...

Was your suggestion an educated guess or have you had similar problems that
you managed to solve?

Thanks anyway
Dave

had one problem with the same stick when I first had Vista, but that
disappeared after the way I said.

I have the same problem! On RC2 things worked correctly, but on RTM Ultimate
x86 w 2GB on Athlon 64 - I get the same problem as you: I have the SD card
in the card reader, and have 'use for readyboost' enabled. A readyboost
cache file is created and the card reader is accessed. But after a while the
cache file is gone.
I am using a Lexar card reader and alternatively a floppy drive with
integrated reader. The card I use is a 2GB PQI SD card with 150x speed
rating.
The event viewer contains nothing in the systems or applications log.
