readyboost and unsupported interface

I have a 1gb compact flash card that I tried to use ReadyBoost on but when I
check in properties, it says that ""The device is plugged into an unsupported
interface." I've changed the setting to "Optomized for performance" and
ReadyBoost is showing that it's running under Services. Any suggestions on
how to make it work or is it working?

Hello Jeff,

By default when you insert media that is Ready boost compatible the AutoPlay
dialog will offer you the option to speed up your system using Windows ReadyBoost.
If you select this option, you can then choose how much memory to use for
this purpose.

Or check the device properties and go to the tab Ready boots to see what
options are available.

Best regards

So I take it that means my flash card is incompatible? Is there a way to
make it compatible like formatting it? Thanks...

It is telling you that you are not plugged into a USB 2.0 port, or you are -
but do not have the correct drivers installed.

How are you connecting it to your PC ? I tried to use a SD card through my
Printer, which has the different memory card slots and connect via USB and
it said it was unsupported interface. Since I was just wanting to play, it
wasn't important enough to me to go out and buy a DC card reader to hookup.

My bios is showing I'm USB 2.0 enabled and my device manager isn't showing a
problem, however, when I boot up the safely remove hardware icon appears in
my tool bar. It's saying I can safely remove USB Mass Storage Device. Is
that normal? When I put the card in, Windows Explorer opens up.

Hi,

I have the same problem. I have an Apacer HT203 USb Flash drive that is
100% compatible with ReadyBoost. However, when i plug it in either in my
desktop PC or my laptop, sometimes ReadyBoost works and sometimes it doesn't
:/ If it doesn't work, Vista shows a balloon tip that says "the drive is
pluged into an unsupported interface". Sometimes reformating the flash drive
helps, but lately even that doesn't do anything.

I think it's a problem with Sleep, cause I always put the computers to sleep
and then ReadyBoost doesn't work. If I shut them down completely, ReadyBoost
usually works. Is this somekind of a bug or do I have some settings set wrong?

Sorry for my double post, see the first post by Doubleface. I have a USB
flash stick, not a flash card.

I would give up on Readyboost, at best it will not work and at worst it will
corrupt Vista. Vista will read your pen OK, If you need more memory buy more
Ram, its real cheap these days.

I have a USB stick plugged into a USB port and have the correct drivers
installed and am still getting the message - 'the device is plugged into an
unsupported interface.' How do you change the settings so that the device
will become supported and enable me to use the Readyboost facility?
