Reading Word in XP

i just bought this computer and it came with Xp. i use
this computer for work only and i have been recieving
documents from my job using microsoft word because at
work we use windows 98. i cannot open these files. i
can't open word or excel files as a matter of fact. and
when i send them wordpad documents from home they have
the same problem. i now have to trek to work to send them
documents and to read theirs. can anyone help me.

You'll need to purchase and install the "full version" of
Microsoft Office XP which includes Word and Excel.

Windows XP is an operating system....it does not include
an office productivity application such as Office XP.

Either that, or get OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) which can read and
write Office files, but it is a completely free office suite.
