Somehow, I need to map a drive from Windows to a VAX system folder (or
whatever it is called).

I know samba can do this with Windows/Unix.

Is there something for VAX?

thanks,

Shane

It used to be called Pathworks. You run it on the
VAX and it becomes another SMB (Microsoft-style)
file and/or printer server (and client too.)

If the VAX is still running DECnet this may be
required but you aren't going to have a compatible
protocal without IP on the VAX and the Pathworks
setup to use it.

This is what Samba does for Unix/Linux.

Alternatively, you could (more easily) just use
an FTP server on the VAX etc.

Thanks a lot Herb!

I've got an old VAX laying in a closet. It takes up most of the closet with
all the pieces (including the RAID box, the "Dec Router", and some odd
looking Hub set that mounts on a wall). I've got all the Pathfire packages
and everything. The machine is still fully loaded with everything it had
when they shut it down,...but I have yet to figure out how to get it all
"physically" put together and running. I never get anything showing up on
the monitor and don't know if I'm even cabling things up correctly.

I meant Pathworks or course,....Pathfire is a whole other "evil" that we
have running here.
