I get a monthly newsletter from a group I belong to via E-
mail in a PDF file. When I try to read it all I get is a
page with a small box in the upper left corner that has 3
colored dots. Is there a setting I need to change in IE6
to read this?

I also recently got a Sony hand held PDA with an on line
manual that is in PDF format. Again I can't read this.

Any help would be appreciated.

If it is only .pdf files, then read on and see if this is relevant:
You may have an invalid plugin.
Netscape-Style Plug-ins Do Not Work After Upgrading Internet Explorer
[Q303401]
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q303/4/01.asp

Remove the plugin with Regedit.exe
Start-Run-Regedit.exe
Navigate down to this key and remove it, after exporting it as a
normal safety precaution.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Plugins\Extension\.pdf

If that key exists, then you will see what plugin has been installed.
(QuickTime by the looks of it and if so, I believe they have a fix)
The key does not normally exist.
